Marius Narcis Dabija

For years, I wrote lyrics that stayed on paper. Life was busy, work filled the days, and music was something I kept returning to, even when there was little time left for it. Eventually, I decided to give those words a life beyond the page.

I’m Marius Dabija, a songwriter and independent artist from Romania. My songs begin with something that refuses to leave me alone: a thought, a contradiction, a memory, sometimes a line that arrives when I should already be asleep.

Love appears often in my writing, but it rarely arrives uncomplicated. There is longing, tenderness, resignation and the strange freedom of finally letting go. There is also humour, irony and room to admit that we are not always the people we pretend to be. I like words that reveal something unexpected — a familiar feeling seen from an unfamiliar angle.

Musically, I follow the song. Some stories need the weight of rock or the sweep of a symphonic arrangement. Others find their voice in pop, reggae or a quieter atmosphere. I enjoy discovering how a different rhythm, arrangement or voice can bring another meaning to the same words.

I work long days, and I care about the details. A lyric, a pause, the way a phrase sits against a melody — I return to these things until they feel right. What I hope reaches the listener, though, is something simple: a feeling they recognise as their own.

Some of these songs belong in my voice. Others may be waiting for someone else’s. I welcome artists and collaborators who hear a possibility in my work and want to explore it together.

For a long time, these stories were mine alone. Now, I’m ready to share them.
